Rosanna Arquette is an actress, director, and producer from the United States. She became known after her Emmy nomination for a movie called The Executioner’s Song from 1985.

She also won the BAFTA Award in the category „Best Actress in a Supporting Role“ for a movie Desperately Seeking Susan which was released the same year and brought accolades to the young actress.

Some of her other known roles are in 1988’s The Big Blue, 1985’s After Hours, 1994’s Pulp Fiction and 1996’s Crash.

She is also known for her role in an ABC sitcom titled What About Ryan?

Rosanna was born on August 10th in 1959 in New York City, United States. Her full name is Rosanna Lisa Arquette.

She is the daughter of Brenda Olivia who is a poet and an actress, an activist and a therapist and also of Lewis Arquette, an actor, and a producer.

Her grandfather is Cliff Arquette, a comedian, and an actor. Her mother died of Breast cancer.

Her mother’s side of the family is Jewish, and they come from Russia and Poland. Her father’s family is part-French and Canadian. Her father converted to Islam from Catholicism.

Her distant relative is an explorer Meriwether Lewis who led the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

She has four siblings, Richmond, Patricia, Alexis, and David, and they all worked in the film industry as actors, directors, producers and more.

Career development

Her first-ever movie was More American Graffiti from 1979 where she had the role of a girl in a commune.

One year after that she was in Gorp, a comedy movie, as Judy.

In 1981 she was in S.O.B., another comedy film, where she had the role of Babs.

In 1982 she was in The Executioner’s Song, where she had the role of Nicole Baker, Gary Gilmore’s (Tomy Lee Jones’) love interest.

For this, she got an Emmy nomination. She wasn’t happy for the nude scene she had to do for this movie because she wasn’t comfortable with the general public seeing her naked.

In 1983 she was in Baby It’s You, a romantic comedy where she played Jill Rosen, a Jewish girl that goes to high school. For this role, she won the Boston Society of Film Critics Award in the category for Best Actress.

In 1985 Rosanna was in The Aviator as Tillie Hansen. This George T. Miller’s history movie aviation drama enabled her to star alongside Christopher Reeve, the famous Superman actor.

The same year she was Roberta Glass is also known as Susan in Desperately Seeking Susan, a comedy-drama movie. For this role, she won the BAFTA Award for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

For this movie, she worked with a pop star Madonna, who acted in it but also made a hit song „Into The Groove“ for it.

In 1990 she was in Sweet Revenge in which she had the role of Kate Williams.

In the 90’s she, along with many other women, claimed that they were sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein. She also stated that because she didn’t accept one of his prepositions hse was paid less and also couldn’t cat for the A-list roles in Pulp Fiction.

She had a main role in Shirley from 1979 to 1980 where she played Debra Miller, om What About Brian from 2006 where she played Nicole Varzi, and in 2018’s Sideswiped in which she is Mary Maple.

Personal life

We don’t know a lot about her personal life today but some of it could be found out through social media and her interviews.

She dated Steve Porcaro in the ’80s. He is the keyboardist of an American band, Toto. Allegedly, the song Rosanna is partly based on Arquette.

She also dated Peter Gabriel, a singer and a songwriter and his song „In Your Eyes“ is inspired by her. At that time she lived in England with him.

She was also with a producer, David Codikow.

In 1979 she married Anthony Greco, a director, but they divorced after only one year.

In 1986 she married James Newton Howard, an American composer, but they also divorced a year after.

In 1993 she married John Sidel, a restaurateur, and they divorced in 1999.

From 1999 until 2005 she was in a relationship with the CEO of Immortal Entertainment named David Codikow.

They got engaged in 2001 but it seems they already knew they weren’t right for each other since they never married and eventually got separated in 2005.

Russell Irwin was her next boyfriend and they were together a little less than a year, during 2003 and 2004.

There were rumors that she began a relationship with a world-famous musician Paul McCartney in 2007 but it was never confirmed.

In the summer of 2013, she married Todd Morgan, a banker, after they were engaged for two years.

Rosanna suffered a big shock after her grown-up daughter revealed to her that she was abused several times in her teen years,  between 11 and 13.

Two years later she spoke about it openly in an interview explaining that it is easier to heal when you don’t have to hide a fact like that and when you stop seeing yourself as the one to be blamed for it.
